Certified Builders

Set yourself apart by becoming an HBA Certified Builder! The HBA will provide opportunities throughout the year for builders to earn credits toward their certification.

  • Window/Door Installation
  • Insulation
  • Concrete
  • OSHA Guidelines
  • Inspectors Roundtable


​Builders can also earn credits by attending Table Top Night, the Member Appreciation Lunch and classes at the International Builders Show.

Certified Builder is not just a title that can be purchased. To become a Certified Builder an applicant must:

  • Provide their homeowner with a contract and no less than a one-year warranty.
  • Have more than five years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Be a member in good standing with the Toledo HBA for two consecutive years.
  • Provide contact information for two industry references with knowledge of the applicant’s construction activity and business integrity.
  • Show proof of workers comp and general liability insurance.
  • Sign the HBA Code of Ethics.
  • Have no unresolved complaints with the HBA Grievance & Ethics Committee.
  • Earn 8 credits per year by attending classes, seminars and certain builder specific events as determined by the HBA.

Once the above requirements are met, the builder will be designated an HBA Certified Builder and provided with the logo to use in their marketing. Certified Builders will be featured in ongoing promotions on the HBA's website, social media and various advertising campaigns.
